Brenden Lake has developed a new AI approach that allows computers to generalize the learning process by employing techniques from cognitive psychology. The result – a computer that can learn about
new objects from just one example by generalizing from previous knowledge, just like humans. Why it’s important – most AI learning algorithms rely on vast amounts of data and have correspondingly large computing power requirements – this approach may greatly reduce the computing requirements for learning while also speeding the learning process. And I enjoyed that the article avoided the “unsupervised learning” myth.
